You Get My Drift-Sitting Polar Bear Diorama
This piece by Laura Cronin, aka Bumble & Earwig was inspired by antique taxidermy dioramas, but contains a contemporary twist.
This miniature faux-taxidermy diorama is vegetarian friendly- no tiny animals were harmed!
The young polar bear has been sculpted from wool using the process of needle-felting and finished with bead eyes and a hand-sculpted polymer clay nose. The discarded bottle, and snow, has been made using recycled plastics.
The diorama box is a glass fronted natural specimen box and has a background hand-painted watercolour background. This is a one off piece which formed part of a group entitled “You Get My Drift” It is signed by the artist.
This diorama measures: H 18cm W 13cm D 6cm
It has a picture loop on the back to allow it to be wall mounted, but is just as happy sitting on a shelf.
Please note, the video has been filmed without the glass front on, to prevent reflections.
